Welcome to English A1 Q&A Corrections #043.
Lesson overview:
Today we practice short correction-style replies with can and can't. This is useful in a questions-and-corrections forum because learners often write very short answers and need help making them polite and correct. We also review a little from earlier lessons: answer, sentence, and question style replies.
Review from previous lessons:
- Use a short answer when you reply.
- Keep the sentence simple.
- Check if the reply is correct or needs a small fix.
New words:
1) can — reading: kan — meaning: be able to
2) can't — reading: kant — meaning: not able to
3) help — reading: help — meaning: give support
4) please — reading: pleez — meaning: polite word
5) check — reading: chek — meaning: look and see
Word usage notes:
- can is for ability: I can help.
- can't is the negative form: I can't help now.
- help is very common in questions and replies.
- please makes your request polite.
- check is useful when asking for correction.
