Watch live: Zelensky, world leaders give remarks before UN General Assembly

3 weeks ago 8

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron will be among the world leaders to address the first of two UN General Assembly plenary sessions Wednesday.

Zelensky has received harsh rebukes from Republicans for what they consider inappropriately weighing in on November's U.S. elections. The Ukrainian president visited a munitions factory in Pennsylvania, one of the swing states that could tip the U.S. presidential race one way or the other.

Additionally, in a New Yorker interview published Sunday, Zelensky described as "too radical" Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), the GOP's vice presidential nominee, who like running mate and former President Donald Trump, seeks to curb U.S. involvement in Ukraine's war with Russia.

On Thursday, Zelensky will meet with both President Biden and Vice President Harris to discuss the state of the ongoing conflict. Last month, the Ukrainian leader stated that he is also sharing plans with Trump, to enable a smooth transition should the Republican return to the White House.

Zelensky will be among the first speakers at the session, which begins at 9 a.m.

Macron will be the session's final speaker, closer to 3 p.m.
