Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said her concerns with President Biden's re-election bid were about his campaign, not about him as a candidate.

“I have great respect for the president, I think his legacy is a very substantial one for our country it is our legacy to I did not want that to be lost,” Pelosi said in an interview on CNN earlier this week.

“Now, my concerns were around the campaign, not about the candidate. He‘s fabulous but the campaign, I thought, was not going in the right direction and I expressed my concern about that,” she added.

Pelosi added that she hasn’t spoken to Biden since July as she’s been on the campaign trail as Congress has been out of session.

Pelosi had reportedly bragged about her role in ousting Biden, thought the two were recently seen seated near each other at Ethel Kennedy’s funeral.

In August, Pelosi said she has never been that impressed” with Biden’s “political operation.”

Though, also in August, Pelosi said she did not ask Biden to step aside and insisted she did not make any phone calls on the matter, despite reports saying she led a pressure campaign to get Biden off the ticket.

“No, I wasn’t a leader of any pressure party,” Pelosi had said.
