Harris tops Trump by 5 points in Minnesota: Poll

Vice President Harris topped former President Trump by 5 points in Minnesota, according to a new poll.

Harris garnered 48 percent support from registered voters in the North Star State to Trump’s 43 percent support, according to the The Minnesota Star Tribune/MPR News/KARE 11 Minnesota poll.

The vice president also seemed to garner a warmer reaction among the Minnesotan voters in the poll, with 47 percent saying they see her favorably and 46 percent saying they see Trump favorably.

The Democratic governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, is also Harris’ running mate, potentially giving her an edge in the Midwestern state when it comes to the 2024 presidential race.

In the wake of a rough debate performance from President Biden against Trump in June, Republicans saw opportunity in more traditionally blue states like Minnesota, Virginia and New Hampshire. In late July, however, the 2024 race was shaken up when the president stepped away from his campaign.

Harris is currently leading Trump in an average of national polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, garnering 50.3 percent support to the former president’s 46.7 percent.

The Minnesota Star Tribune/MPR News/KARE 11 Minnesota poll took place between Sep. 16 and 18, featuring 800 registered voters and a margin of sampling error within 3.5 percentage points.
