CNBC host says Trump canceled interview

Former President Trump was set to appear on CNBC this week but ultimately canceled on the network, a leading anchor on the network said Tuesday.

"Well, Trump canceled," CNBC's Joe Kernen said on "Squawk Box."

"And he was going to come on ... and I told him, when you come on, we'll be able to say you came," the host continued, adding he did not speak to Trump personally about an appearance.

Allies of Vice President Harris circulated a clip of Kernen's comments on social media.

The Hill has contacted the Trump campaign for further comment.

Trump's apparent cancelation comes just days after he backed out of a planned sit-down with "60 Minutes" after CBS News said it would fact-check him.

Trump is slated to appear Wednesday morning on Fox News for a town hall with voters focusing on women's issues.

Harris participated in a sit-down with "60 Minutes," went on a media tour last week and will be interviewed by Fox News's chief political anchor Bret Baier on Wednesday evening, her first ever on the network.

CNBC is owned by Comcast, one of the media conglomerates Trump has recently railed against and called for the federal government to investigate over coverage he says is not fair to him.
