Chappell Roan says she's voting for Harris, but 'not settling for what's been offered'

Pop star Chappell Roan said Wednesday in a TikTok post that she will vote for Vice President Harris, but not endorse the Democratic presidential nominee.

“So, yeah, I’m voting for f—ing Kamala,” Roan said in her post. “But I’m not settling for what has been offered.”

Earlier in her post, Roan said she doesn’t agree with all of the left's policy proposals.

“Like, obviously, f— the policies of the right, but also f— some of the policies on the left,” the “After Midnight” singer added. “That’s why I can’t endorse. That’s why I can’t, like, put my entire name and my entire project behind one.

"Because there is no way I can… I can stand behind some of the left’s completely transphobic and completely genocidal views," Roan continued.

A day before, Roan said in a different post that she’s “not voting for [former President] Trump.” That post followed a The Guardian interview published last week in which she said she didn’t “feel pressured to endorse someone.”

“There’s problems on both sides,” Roan continued, per the outlet. “I encourage people to use your critical thinking skills, use your vote – vote small, vote for what’s going on in your city.”

Roan, a member of the LGBTQ community herself, told The Guardian she hopes for a shift during the 2024 election on “trans rights.”

“They cannot have cis people making decisions for trans people, period,” she added.

Earlier this year, Roan said she declined an offer to perform at the White House for a Pride celebration and pushed for the administration to aim for “liberty, justice and freedom for all.”

“As a response to the White House, who asked me to perform for Pride,” Roan said at the Governors Ball Music Festival. “We want liberty, justice and freedom for all. When you do that, that’s when I’ll come.”

The Hill has reached out to the Harris campaign, Trump campaign, Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee.
